Fitness in the Fall

It’s officially COLD outside here in Missouri and the holidays are right around the corner. For me, that means food! I’m not just talking about the pumpkin pie, stuffing, and Christmas cookies… don’t forget about all those other yummy treats that make an appearance during the holidays: tins of Topsy’s popcorn, homemade Chex mix with bacon, and perhaps a few extra glasses of wine.I don’t mind treating myself to a few extra goodies during the holidays, but I try to balance it out with some extra exercise, I even decided to assist to the Filipino Martial Arts School. I love practicing Scramble Gi on my free time too, it helps me stay in shape. During most of the year, I love to get outdoors and walk, hike, and bike in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks where I live. But the temperatures hit 10° this week so I’m having to get creative with some indoor workouts. I don’t belong to a gym so I truly do have to get creative.

  1. I bought T-25 over the summer, got halfway through it and stopped. For my winter workouts, I’ll be doing those, mixed with Fitness Blender (thanks to Chromecast, I can use a regular TV instead of my laptop) and the workouts on an app that I bought. I need to do something besides sit on the couch and read!

    Winter is definitely a time to get creative with workouts.

  2. I have my bf download me workout dvd’s and I just do workouts at home. I’m also fortunate to have a gym in my building so I can head downstairs and workout when I need to. We have a gym membership with the gym up the road too so there’s no excuse but when it’s cold yikes I just want to be lazy! Kicking my exercise regime into more consistent gear though since my birthday is approaching in Jan! Have a great one Sarah! -Iva

  3. We are big on adding fitness to other things and braving the elements. Nothing like getting out in the fresh air. And my best workout buddies have been my kids. They are old enough to play along and do some pretty cool things like mountain biking and medicine ball slams!

  4. I didn’t see a comment section over on that blog but great tips to find a workout buddy and do little exercises throughout the day. I just joined the gym at work because on rainy or snowy days, I just don’t even want to get in my car to drive to the gym across the street. Talk about lazy!
